Here’s some interesting stuff you might like to know about Our Tiny Bees from Jonathan – the Captain of the Our Tiny Bees Ship!
Beeswax is anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and has antiviral benefits, Beeswax also contains vitamin A, which is beneficial in softening and rehydrating your skin and even helps in cell reconstruction. When our beeswax is used in our products it works as a sealant and therefore is ideal for our lip balms and our hand balm.
In our candles our beeswax is used to give a brighter and longer burn than soy alone, and of course we get to pay beekeepers for it, so they look after more bees, and you know that makes us happy!
Honey has natural antioxidant and anti-microbial properties that help to protect the skin and supports the skin’s ability to rejuvenate and refresh. Honey has also been used as a wound dressing historically and can promote healing and prevent infection because of its natural anti-microbial properties.
All the honey we use is harvested by traditional beekeepers that work in a sustainable way and are dedicated to preserving this precious commodity. Supporting these small-scale beekeepers and their bees also means that bee numbers will be increased which has a positive effect on UK pollination. We use honey in nearly all our products – it is amazing in our bath melts and our body scrub.
So you can see why we use them – worry not, just enjoy the benefits.
We believe it takes little steps to make big things happen.
Rule #1 – If it isn’t useful – it doesn’t go in.
When we make products we make them useful. We could easily make a jar of exotic smelling, chemical filled, environmentally disgraceful goo, and indeed with a nice label we could charge you a fortune for it.
But we don’t.
We find nice, effective goodies (nut oils, nut butters, seed oils, fruit powders and essential oils) and blend them to create something that works, we charge a fair price for our goodness and hard work.
Have a look around and be assured in this world of expensive pots of well-marketed chemicals, we are producing artisan skincare packed full of naturally effective ingredients.
Rule #2 – If it doesn’t make us happy we don’t do it.
We work directly with British beekeepers who supply us with 100% British honey and wax, we buy English essential oils made by people who took a chance and decided to fill their land with Lavender flowers and make Lavender essential oil. We buy our tins from a lovely UK company that recently sent us our order when they were flooded and had no power (their phone line still worked). We supply cute, creative shops run by people who quit their day job to bring other people good things – often that they themselves cherry pick.
